Ipswich Electrifiers’ member Cathy Shelbourne won the Toastmasters International Division G table topics contest at Saffron Walden, Essex, on 2nd November.
She will now represent the East of England in the Toastmasters International District 71 finals in Ireland in May 2020. Competitors at the contest had to speak spontaneously on the subject of the superpower they would like most in the month of November, and why.
“It was a difficult challenge,” said Cathy, who runs Sea Shell Communications marketing consultancy and also coaches individuals in public speaking. “The judges were looking for a well-structured speech, as well as a rapport with the audience, and good body language. I called upon all my powers of warmth and light to spread a little sunshine on such a wet and miserable November day!”
