What is the real value of your presence as a speaker? There is no formula for slicing your message into percentages of words, tone, and body language. Discard that myth and explore the genuine power of your physicality in relation to interpersonal communications. Whether speaking to an audience or one-to-one, your presence is a priceless asset to complement your communication style. Create a meaningful connection with others by your natural and engaging movement. Discover the single most important tool in your presence toolbox.

and discard those pages and pages of handwritten notes.

Adrian is a registered Mind Mapping trainer and as an independent Project Manager and software consultant has been using the technique to great effect in business since 1998.

In this short workshop Adrian will explain the basic principles of Mind Mapping and how you can use it to improve your effectiveness at work, home and importantly, at Toastmasters.

You will also have the opportunity to use it in a short practical session at the end.

The Contests

Contestants join us from clubs across the area. Camulodunum Speakers Club, Chelmsford Speakers Club, Ipswich Electrifiers Speakers’ Club and Speak Easy at Martlesham. All judging is done to Toastmasters International standards by preselected, qualified judges.

Winners will compete for the right to go to the division contests in Saffron Walden on November 2nd.

Table Topics Contest

Each contestant has two minutes to think on their feet and creatively answer a question posed. It’s the same question for each but never the same answer (and they won’t know what the others have said).

Humorous Speech Contest

Humour helps us connect with our audience. In this contest, each contestant delivers a seven-minute speech on a subject of their choosing, Will their humour win you over?

Your questions about the Aspire conference

We want to offer more value for everyone. Toastmasters and non-Toastmasters alike will be able to experience some of the Toastmasters' magic. This conference is more value in terms of learning and development, more opportunity to mix with members from clubs across the area and more understanding of what the Toastmasters International organisation can offer for your personal aspirations.
Absolutely not. We encourage members and non-members of Toastmasters International to along. This is a great way for people to learn more about Toastmasters and our clubs.
We need to know the number of people attending in advance. Once you have registered on eventbrite we'll contact you to confirm your requirements and payment.
We never charge a contestant to compete but if you wish to have lunch with us there is a cost to that. We'll confirm all the details with you after you have registered.
Each contest is a competition between the top two winners from our club level competitions in our area. Club contests have been happening in September and early October If you are not a member but think you'd like to compete in the future speak to our members about joining a club.
The Table Topics contest is being held in the morning and the Humorous Speech contest in the afternoon. We will post a detailed agenda timing soon
The venue has plenty of free car parking.
Although we hope you'll join us for the full day we do have full-day and half-day prices if you need them.
Of course, we'd always be glad of your support. We need paid-up Toastmasters to be contest officials, including judges, counters and timers. Other assistance on the day is much appreciated. If you are a member of an area one club please let your club president know you are available or contact us directly on
