Ipswich Electrifiers Speakers’ Club was chartered on 1st March 1995
The Charter Evening was held on 28th April 1995
The Electrifiers’ name refers to the Talk Electric Centre, part of the Eastern Electricity offices at the back of Ipswich Town Football Club, where the Club first met
In 2003, the IESC newsletter, edited by Jeff Short, was one of the top ten finalists in the Toastmasters world for the best club publication
In 2004, IESC member Jeff Short was asked to give the keynote speech at the Toastmasters International District 71 conference in Portsmouth
The Club celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2004 with a dinner in the company of the Mayor of Ipswich
IESC members Frances Crane and Cathy Shelbourne have both won the Toastmasters International Club, Area, and East of England Division Evaluation Contest, and were finalists in the District 71 Evaluation Contests
Ipswich Electrifiers devised and organised the Speakerthon – 100 speeches in 100 minutes – as part of Ip-Art in 2009 and 2010
Acclaimed author Katie Ward joined IESC in anticipation of author readings. Members gave her feedback on her delivery. Her first novel, Girl Reading, was published in 2011
