Colchester.

“We chose Boadicea to head our conference as she is the queen of communication and leadership skills,” acknowledges Constance Turner, Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) and Boadicea Conference Director. “Just as Boadicea summoned the troops and exhorted them to be brave in battle, so too will we be welcoming hundreds of Toastmasters from all over the UK and Ireland and encouraging our top humorous and impromptu speakers when competing in the District finals.

“The conference will open with an informal evening of singing and dancing with the Irish contingent, who are famous for enjoying themselves! And after the contests, we will be celebrating with a themed dinner attended by a colourful array of Boadiceas and Romans.”

When not contesting or feasting, Icenians and invaders will be able to enjoy the spa facilities and golf courses at Britain’s first Crowne Plaza Resort. “The hotel is set in 320 acres of beautiful Essex countryside, with excellent links to Stansted airport as well as the Roman town of Colchester,” says Jamie Taylor, Director of Sales and Marketing. “With newly refurbished facilities and 194 bedrooms, we’re looking forward to hosting the Toastmasters International conference.”

Visitors are very welcome to the Conference, and a special workshop on communication and leadership skills for businesses and academic institutions will be held on Saturday 9th November.
